Louisiana's family-roasted medium-dark blend: full-bodied, low-acid and nutty, with caramel and cocoa notes.
Café Special is Community Coffee's flagship medium-dark blend of 100% Arabica beans, sold ground in 12, 20, 32 and 40 oz bags. The roaster lists caramel, cocoa and nutty notes with full body and medium-low brightness, and recommends it for drip, pour-over, French press, percolator and cold brew. It is a good fit for drinkers who want a smooth, darker cup without the burnt edge of many dark roasts.

In the roaster’s words
“This perfectly balanced blend showcases both a smooth, medium body and sweet, flavorful profile. We roast this coffee to a medium-dark color to bring out nutty notes with hints of caramel and cocoa.”
How it scored
Cup score out of 10, weighted across five factors.
A smooth, full-bodied medium-dark cup with caramel, cocoa and nutty notes; tasters find it strong without harshness but not complex.
100% Arabica, cupped five times by Q graders through sourcing and roasting, though bags carry no roast date.
About $0.44 a cup at 15 g per cup from the $9.99 12 oz bag, and less in the 32 and 40 oz bags.
Says it ethically sources 100% of its coffee and funds World Coffee Research, but names no origins or third-party certification beyond OU kosher.
A beloved Gulf South staple with loyal fans; national coverage is thinner and some reviewers find it ordinary.
