America's default diner-style cup: mild, smooth and predictable, at roughly a third of a dollar per cup.
Folgers Classic Roast is the brand's flagship medium-roast ground coffee, roasted in New Orleans and sold in canisters from 9.6 to 43.5 oz. It makes a mild, familiar drip-machine cup and is one of the cheapest name-brand coffees per cup. It suits budget, big-batch and office brewing; coffee enthusiasts find it flat, and Folgers does not disclose bean species or origins.

“Wake up to the fresh aroma of Folgers Classic Roast coffee. Each sip delivers the rich, smooth flavor that's been brewing for generations.”
How it scored
Cup score out of 10, weighted across five factors.
A mild, smooth, classic drip-coffee taste that pleases its loyal fans, but tastes flat and one-dimensional next to most of this category.
Sealed canister and a consistent New Orleans roast, but bean species, roast date and grade are not disclosed.
About $0.34 a cup at 15 g per cup from a $16.69 25.9 oz canister, one of the lowest per-cup costs of any national brand.
Folgers only says its beans come from suppliers in more than 20 countries; there are no named origins or certifications.
Huge mainstream loyalty (Tasting Table calls it Walmart's best-selling grounds) but routinely mocked by coffee enthusiasts.
