A compact, very quiet 55 mm flat-burr espresso grinder with stepless adjustment and a touchscreen timer; the chute is messy.
The Mignon Specialità is Eureka's best-known home espresso grinder: 55 mm hardened-steel flat burrs, a 1,350 RPM motor, Eureka's patented stepless micrometric adjustment, a touchscreen with two programmable timed doses and a hands-free portafilter fork, all in a sound-insulated body made in Florence. Reviewers praise its consistency, low retention and quietness; the steep chute, small long-throw dial and filter performance are the usual caveats. US retailers list it at $549.

Watch-outs
How it scored
Gear score out of 10, weighted across five factors.
Tom's Guide found it highly consistent within and between doses with low retention, and The Coffee Chronicler reports fluffy, near clump-free espresso grounds; filter results are only average.
Tom's Guide calls it 'built like a tank'; Eureka rates the burrs for 300 kg and hand-assembles it in Florence, though US coverage is 1 year.
Touchscreen dose timer, hands-free fork and very low noise make daily espresso easy, but the steep chute sprays grounds and the small stepless dial is slow to reset.
$549 is fair for its build and quietness, but newer single-dose flat-burr rivals undercut it.
A long-time enthusiast favorite: The Coffee Chronicler explains why it is so popular with coffee geeks, and Tom's Coffee Corner reviewed his after more than three years of ownership.

What people are saying
Verbatim from Reddit, forums and long-term owner write-ups — linked so you can read the full thread.
“All that said, if you can get your hands on one, I highly doubt you’ll regret it: for most, the Mignon Specialita will be the only grinder you’ll ever need.”
“One of my main issues with the Specialita’s performance is its chute, which delivers grounds at quite a high angle. This is easily fixable with a portafilter dosing funnel, but that’s an extra spend, so it’d have been nice to see a lower delivery angle to prevent messy worktops.”
“If you don’t count manual grinders, I’m pretty confident in saying that this is one of the quietest grinders you will find.”
“I brewed a few V60s with it and quickly decided that I was only going to use it for espresso.”

FAQ
Eureka classifies it as all-purpose, but reviewers say it is geared toward espresso. The Coffee Chronicler brewed a few V60s and decided to use it only for espresso, and Tom's Guide says the long-throw dial doesn't suit switching between brew methods.
It is a hopper grinder, but retention is low: The Coffee Chronicler measured exchange around 1 g and notes owners add funnels or bellows. Tom's Guide points dedicated single-dosers to the Mignon Zero instead.
No. Eureka's supplementary 10-year motor warranty lists the Mignon Specialità Smart, Zero and ORO models, not the standard Specialità. Whole Latte Love lists a 1-year parts-and-labor manufacturer warranty in the US.
A touchscreen stores two timed doses (adjustable in small increments) plus continuous grinding, and grinding starts from a microswitch when you insert the portafilter or from the display.
