A rechargeable 0.1 g scale with auto timer and flow-rate readout for $55; the value pick for pour-over and espresso.
The second-generation Black Mirror Basic weighs from 0.1 g up to 2 kg (minimum detection 0.5 g) with an automatic timer, a water flow-rate test, a backlit LCD and touch buttons. It charges by USB through a sealed, closable port, with a 1600 mAh battery rated for up to 10 hours, and includes a silicone heat pad. Coffee Kev calls the Black Mirror range probably the best-selling scales on the market and a very good set for the money, though at 26 mm tall it can be tight under some espresso machines.

How it scored
Gear score out of 10, weighted across five factors.
0.1 g readings across the full 2 kg range, an auto timer and a flow-rate readout cover pour-over and most espresso needs.
Acrylic top, waterproof dial surface and a sealed USB port; Coffee Kev says the range is known for decent quality.
Rechargeable with up to 10 hours per charge and simple touch controls, but the 3-minute auto-off and 26 mm height can get in the way.
$55 buys features that cost far more on premium scales.
Coffee Kev calls the Black Mirror scales probably the best-selling and best-known range on the market.

“They’re a really nice, simple scales with an auto timer function. They have a proper on/off switch on the side, which I find handy – and the new flow rate indication is a very handy feature for anyone who wants to see the flow rate.”
“These scales are really pretty good basic scales, they tick most boxes, but they’re not the smallest, at 26mm tall.”
