The archetypal French press: a borosilicate glass carafe in a chrome steel frame that makes rich, full-bodied coffee for very little money.
The Chambord is Bodum's signature French press, with a heat-resistant borosilicate glass carafe, a chrome-plated stainless steel frame and lid, and a stainless mesh plunger that needs no paper filters. The 8-cup model holds 34 oz and brews in four minutes. America's Test Kitchen names the 34 oz Chambord its best buy, and reviewers praise its smooth coffee and timeless looks. The trade-offs are thin glass that breaks and doesn't hold heat, plus some sediment in the cup. The 8-cup chrome version was listed as out of stock on Bodum's US store when checked, while the 3-, 4- and 12-cup sizes were in stock.

How it scored
Gear score out of 10, weighted across five factors.
Homes & Gardens says it makes some of the best French press coffee, and America's Test Kitchen names it its best buy, though a mesh filter always leaves more sediment and oil than paper.
The chrome-plated steel frame lasts for years, but reviewers call the glass thin and fragile, and owners report breaking glass presses.
Add grounds and water, wait four minutes and press. Cleanup means scooping out wet grounds.
At $54.99 list for the 8-cup, or less for smaller sizes, with no filters to buy, it's an inexpensive way to brew several cups.
It is the archetypal French press, ATK's best buy and Coffeeness's best overall Bodum, while forum users mainly complain about breakage.

What people are saying
Verbatim from Reddit, forums and long-term owner write-ups — linked so you can read the full thread.
“The classic, elegant, and simple style of the Chambord is reflected in the flavors it brews. This makes some of the best French press coffee and (even better) it's easy to use. Our only issue is the carafe: it is fragile and a poor insulator.”
“My personal favorite is the Bodum Chambord French press. It’s understated, yet elegant … simple, yet stylish. In fact, I’m naming this timeless cult class the “Best Overall” Bodum French press.”
“I stuck with the Bodum brand mentioned above. This stainless, huge-ass, french press has served me well for about a decade now after I broke my second glass model.”

FAQ
Bodum recommends one rounded teaspoon, or one Bodum scoop, of coarsely ground coffee per 4 oz cup, with water at about 92–96 °C. Leave about an inch at the top, stir, brew for four minutes, then press slowly.
Bodum measures its coffee makers in European cups of about 4 oz, so the 8-cup Chambord holds 1 liter (34 oz). Size up to the 12-cup (51 oz) model for bigger batches.
Not for long. Bodum suggests turning the lid to close the spout while brewing, but reviewers note the glass carafe is a poor insulator. Pour or decant your coffee soon after pressing.
Bodum's US store lists 3-cup (12 oz), 4-cup (17 oz), 8-cup (34 oz) and 12-cup (51 oz) versions. When checked, the 8-cup chrome model was out of stock there, and the other sizes were available.
