The SCA-certified Dutch drip brewer: a full 1.25 L pot from two switches, built to be repaired for life, but pricey.
The KBGV Select is Moccamaster's flagship glass-carafe drip brewer, with a copper boiling element, a full/half-carafe selector and an automatic drip-stop basket, handmade in the Netherlands. Moccamaster says it is certified by the SCA and ECBC for both full and half batches. Reviewers praise the cup quality, speed and repairability. Common complaints are the plastic parts, the thin carafe and the lack of a timer at $369.

Watch-outs
How it scored
Gear score out of 10, weighted across five factors.
SCA/ECBC certified for full and half batches. Reviewed says its coffee beat every other drip maker it tried, and Tom's Guide calls it the machine to beat, though one TikTok reviewer criticizes its water distribution.
Handmade, with a 5-year warranty, lifetime repairs and spare parts for every model, but several reviewers call the plastics and glass carafe thin for the price.
Two switches and an automatic drip-stop make it nearly foolproof, and it brews a full pot in about six minutes. It has no timer, and the glass carafe relies on a hotplate.
$369 buys longevity rather than features. SCA-certified rivals such as the OXO 8-Cup cost roughly half as much.
It has a buy-it-for-life following among forum users and reviewers, and Tom's Guide calls it the machine to beat. A vocal minority on TikTok and YouTube call it overpriced.

“If you want a reliable, functional, and stylish drip coffee maker that may as well be a statement piece in your kitchen, the Technivorm Moccamaster KGBV Select is the one for you.”
“It has exactly 1 button I need to understand to get it to function. The design has not changed in decades - every part they offer spares for.”
“…plug my Moccamaster into a smart timer (wonderful coffee maker, but the lack of programmable functionality has my wife constantly wanting to pull out our old Ninja)…”
“My 3 year old Moccamaster’s auto-off feature gave up a couple months ago. … I know I could easily replace if I had the part but Technivorm insists I send the unit to them … And, boy, does it make good coffee.”

FAQ
No. It has a power switch and a full/half-carafe selector but no clock or delayed-brew setting, and the hotplate turns itself off after 100 minutes. Reviewed and Tom's Guide both list the missing programmable features as its main convenience trade-off.
The selector lets you choose a full or half carafe and automatically adjusts the brewing process for that volume. Moccamaster says the KBGV is certified by the SCA and ECBC for both batch sizes.
Moccamaster recommends a medium-coarse grind that looks like coarse sand or sea salt, and fresh tap, filtered or bottled water. It advises against reverse-osmosis or distilled water, which can damage the copper boiling element, and recommends descaling every 100 cycles or at least every three months.
Every Moccamaster has a 5-year warranty, and the company says its service technicians will repair any Moccamaster for the life of the brewer. Replacement parts are sold for all models.
