The pour-over benchmark: a handmade porcelain cone with spiral ribs and an open bottom that rewards good technique.
The V60 02 is Hario's classic cone pour-over dripper, here in the handmade Arita-yaki porcelain version. It brews 1–4 cups, and its spiral ridges and single large opening let your pour speed set the flow, which is why baristas favor it. In return it is more technique-sensitive than flat-bottom or immersion brewers. It needs V60 02 paper filters, and ideally a gooseneck kettle and a grinder.

How it scored
Gear score out of 10, weighted across five factors.
The cone, spiral ridges and unrestricted opening let you shape extraction with pour speed (fast for a delicate body, slow for heavier flavor, per Hario), and Tom's Guide praises its fragrant cup. Results vary more than with flat-bottom brewers.
It is handmade Arita-yaki porcelain from a 100-year-old Japanese glassmaker and has no moving parts, but ceramic can chip or break if dropped, and no warranty is listed.
Tom's Guide notes it depends on pouring precision more than other pour-overs, and a 10-year owner says it is hard to repeat cup to cup, though cleanup is a quick rinse.
At $30.50 for porcelain, or $13 for Hario's plastic version, it is one of the cheapest routes to specialty-level coffee.
It is the reference pour-over brewer: James Hoffmann's V60 technique video has more than 5 million views, and forum users still rate it above pod machines for taste.

What people are saying
Verbatim from Reddit, forums and long-term owner write-ups — linked so you can read the full thread.
“The Hario V60 is a budget friendly, easy-to-use coffee maker with very little bells and whistles. The V60 filters are adept at preventing ground spillage and brewing a fragrant coffee.”
“Under £10 it’s not espresso but a Hario V60 and the James Hoffman recipe and good coffee beans beats any Nespresso for taste imo.”
“tbf the Hario V60 can be exacting, and is sensitive to technique. It makes repeating from cup to cup difficult - more so than the Chemex. I've used a V60 almost every day for the last 10 years…”

It is more sensitive to technique than most brewers. Tom's Guide says it relies on pouring precision more than other pour-overs, and long-time users report cup-to-cup variation. A published recipe, a scale and a gooseneck kettle make results much more consistent.
