An SCA-certified thermal-carafe drip brewer that handles a single mug or a full pot for about $220.
The OXO Brew 8-Cup is a compact, stainless steel drip machine certified by the Specialty Coffee Association. OXO's BetterBrew system controls water temperature, volume and brew time, and a Rainmaker showerhead and bloom cycle spread water evenly over the grounds. It brews into a vacuum-insulated thermal carafe or straight into a mug with the included single-serve basket. Reviewers like the cup and the simplicity, but it has no clock or timer, and the carafe doesn't hold heat as long as some rivals'.

How it scored
Gear score out of 10, weighted across five factors.
SCA-certified temperature and timing. Homes & Gardens found the single-cup mode tastes as good as a full carafe, though it notes some users find the coffee too hot to drink right away.
It has a stainless steel housing and a vacuum-insulated carafe, but some owners have posted videos of 'Clean' errors and units that stopped working, and OXO doesn't list the warranty on the product page.
Two brew buttons, a podless single-serve option and a compact footprint make it easy to live with, but it has no clock or timer and the water tank isn't removable.
At $219.99 (often discounted) it is one of the cheapest SCA-certified brewers, costing well under the Moccamaster or Fellow Aiden.
Homes & Gardens calls it one of the best drip makers of all time, and deal-forum owners rave about it. The recurring gripes are heat retention and the missing timer.

What people are saying

“Whether you’re brewing coffee for one or a whole family, the OXO 8 Cup Coffee Maker is a solid choice for its ease of use and sleek design. It may not keep your coffee super warm over time and have all the bells and whistles like a coffee grinder or clock, but it gets the job done.”
“We really liked this brewer and have no problem recommending it. It’s an excellent choice for a household of one or two coffee drinkers for whom 8 cups hits the spot.”
“We love this coffee maker. I needed something that fit under our short cabinet-counter height. Only downside is the carafe doesn't keep warm for long, but not a big issue since most will consume the entire pot quickly. Additionally, I would have loved a timer but brews are done in less than 10 minutes.”
“It's the best coffee maker I've had but currently not being used since we bought a Philips 3200. … However, in terms of coffee taste, the Oxo is still better. You can't go wrong with this. The only minor issue is that there will always be some liquid in the carafe.”

FAQ
Yes. You can brew straight into a mug by flipping the well cover up for short mugs or removing it for tall travel mugs. An included single-serve basket nests inside the main basket to give small doses a deeper coffee bed.
No. OXO uses a double-wall, vacuum-insulated thermal carafe because it says hotplates can make coffee bitter or burned. OXO suggests preheating your mug and milk if you like coffee hotter, and reviewers note the carafe doesn't hold heat as long as some competitors.
No. It has a power button, two brew buttons (2–4 cups and 5–8 cups) and a Clean button, but no clock or delayed start. Homes & Gardens and owners on Slickdeals both call the missing timer its main trade-off.
OXO says the brew basket, single-serve basket, scoop, well cover and Rainmaker showerhead are top-rack dishwasher safe. Wash the carafe and lid by hand with mild detergent.
